This famous 15th-century Inca site has been well preserved and its impressive architecture has made it one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world till date. This ancient ruin is believed to be built by Pachacuti Inca Yupanqui in the 1400s. As the visitors climb up to the summit, they are rewarded and welcomed with magnificent views of the complex. Borobudur, Indonesia

The astonishing Borobudur temple rises up over the largest island in Indonesia, Java and is a very renowned historical attraction in the world. The monument is in the shape of a stepped pyramid with each of the ascending levels representing a massive stage of enlightenment. Towards the bottom are elaborately carved bas-reliefs that strive to depict the Buddhist sutras. Borobudur is best known to represent the interplay of Hinduism and Buddhism.

Founded way back in 1350, as per records over thirty-five kings ruled the Ayutthaya kingdom during its lifelong existence. The city was once during war attacked and razed by the Burmese army who completely burned the city, forcing the inhabitants to abandon the city. From then, the city was never rebuilt and today is an extensive archaeological site. Some popular attractions with the park area that temp tourists are Wat Mahathat, Wat Lokayasutharam, Wat Naphramane Wat Mongkhol Bophit and Wat Phanan Choeng.

Nestled on the sidelines of a high cliff in Maharashtra, the Ellora Caves are a perfect evidence of the peaceful coexistence of three different cultures namely - Buddhism, Hinduism, and Jainism. This well renowned archeological site features over 34 monasteries and temples that date back to the seventh century. This is a strong reason that this attraction is visited by history lovers from all parts of the globe. The most impressive facet of Ellora Caves is the ornate frieze.

The original purpose of Stonehenge is yet unclear but as it symbolizes mystery, power and endurance, many experts have speculated that it was originally a temple made for the worship of ancient earth deities. The sarsen stones placed here weigh as much as 45 tons and are believed to have been transported across countless distances before the invention of the wheel. The best time to be here is during the sunrise and sunset when this prehistoric monument can be seen moving.
