How to choose The Right Bag pack to Avoid Travel Hassles.

Bag packs are a blessing when it comes to traveling, since they form for a very handy and comfortable luggage type. You can swing it over your shoulders and set off on a journey, hands free and easy. Also bag packs come in real aid as makeshift pillow or cushions if required to rest at less convenient of places. But picking up the correct bag pack is also a must to save unnecessary hassle, and so we bring you the best tips for that.

1. Resistance to Water: It is always advisable to have a bag pack made from water resistant material, such that one doesn’t open to wet clothes after a drizzle or an accidental spill. Having a water resistant bag pack helps you to keep things inside dry in a drizzle or snowfall. Also the material should dry off easily after getting wet, such that it doesn’t get difficult to carry.

2. Zipper locks: Locking your belongings or ensuring that no one drops something in your bag is a must while traveling abroad. Hence Bag Packs with double zippers are really helpful for this purpose as they allow one to lock their stuffs inside. Also in case of bag packs without such features, one can use the Pacsafe which lets travelers pack their bags in a mesh like structure.

3. Padded Shoulder Straps and Hip belt: Bag Packs unlike suitcases are carried close to the body and they are more in contact with the body than traditional suitcases. For this reason, it is necessary to have bag packs which can be carried comfortably. And this can be achieved if the bag has padded shoulders and hip belts, such that the weight on shoulders is distributed evenly and gets you less exhausted. Also such pads helps to lessen the pressure exerted on your shoulders, lower back and around the hips, thereby preventing body ache from fatigue.

4. Multiple Compartments: Multiple Compartments in any luggage helps one to be more organized with one’s belongings while traveling. One can ideally categorize articles as per usage or priority and then tuck them in separate chambers of the bag. This not only allows easy access in times of need, but also saves the time to search. Thus a good bag needs to have multiple compartments.

5. The Size: Picking a Bag Pack of the correct size is very important to fully accommodate one’s travel needs. While size plays an important role in deciding how much of the stuffs can be loaded and packed, it also plays a vital function in deciding one’s ability to carry. It is very stressful and exhausting if one has to carry a bag pack in the size that interferes with his normal gait, or which exerts too much weight on the person’s shoulder, or even reaches beyond the person’s waist uncomfortably. All of these conditions can be checked while deciding on the size of the bag pack.

5 Reasons why you wouldn’t want to miss the Bonsai Sushi on Carnival Cruise

Sushi is an all time favorite on Cruises and many of us have tried it on board, but there is something that makes the Bonsai Sushi truly exceptional. The Bonsai Sushi on Carnival Cruises has been reviewed by many as favorite and here’s a list of 5 reasons why.

The Ambience

The décor of the Bonsai Sushi is characterized by fine sitting dining arrangements surrounded by nicely pruned Bonsai Trees on board. The place follows the art of Japanese Minimalism, blending it in interior décor in terms of warm golden lamps, wooden furniture and colorful Koi Kites. The calm Zen like ambience, combined with clay pottery and food mats, speck clean environment and the rich polished décor makes for it a fine dining experience.

The Food Platter

Food at Bonsai is simply of top notch quality, besides being wide in variety and affordable on pockets. From their complimentary Miso Soup to the Tuna flavored Sushi Rolls, Bonsai serves up a wide variety of delicacy at affordable prices. But that doesn’t compromise with the taste, as the flavors of all dishes are achieved to perfection using the traditions of the cuisine. A glimpse of the menu would show that at Bonsai one gets Appetizers, soups and salads for $2-$3 each and rolls at $4-$6, with larger rolls priced at $15-$25 eah.

The Must Haves

The Miso Soup and the Spicy Tuna Sushi Roll are the best highlights of the Bonsai Menu, being an all time favorite among patrons. But apart from them there are really tasty delicacies that include The Tempura Roll, Bonsai Tripe E-Roll and Bucs Roll all blended with interesting flavors and equipments serving up to savor the taste buds. Also each table at Bonsai receives a handful of Edamame as complimentary. Also portions served are very generous and really fills in for a wholesome meal.

The Cutlery

Although Bonsai incorporates the Japanese traditions, they are warm and welcoming to tourists from all across the world. And as special note to their hospitality, they have introduced the indigenous Chork, which is a combination of Japanese Chopsticks and the basic fork. And not only does Chork enhance your eating experience, but can also serve as a learning tool with chopsticks for kids. The effort for the amazing discovery is really commendable and appealing.

Availability

Bonsai Sushi is one of the add on experience services on the Carnival Cruise, tucked nicely on the Promenade Deck 5, with its beautiful Bonsai décor attracting tourists. And even though it is an add on service, the food and the interior décor is really worth visiting the Bonsai.

Snow Leopards restored to their homes in Afghanistan

Long since the Snow Leopards have abounded the Hindu-Kush Mountains that border around Afghanistan and Pakistan, falling prey to the hands of human cruelty and natural disasters till their population declined drastically over the past decades. Thus to preserve the rare cat species, conservationist have been working for seven years until recently it was confirmed that their population have raised over a hundred in Afghanistan.

The cat species is native to the mountain ranges in Central Asia with an estimated population of 3290-6390 living in the wild. But in Afghanistan the numbers were fast shrinking due to hunting, poaching, and killing for pelts until the New York based Wildlife Conservation Society stepped in to aid. Wakhan in Afghanistan has been the site with maximum snow leopard inhabitation, been declared as a National Park in collaboration with the Government and Local residents, the region has now shown an increase in the cat population. Although threatened by hunters and farmers killing the beasts to protect their livestock, Wakhan remains as a hopeful tourist attraction with the leopards as the best highlight. The return of the Snow Leopards to these remote lands, brought about by sheer human effort underlines the fact that conservation even in the smallest way can become very significant in nature.

Through constant efforts and transforming Wakhan in a 4200 square mile acre of National Park, the WCS have done an amazing job preserving the Snow Leopards. The National Park protects the natives, has helped them build fences to protect their livestock and also developed a compensation program for locals when their livestock are killed. These efforts have not only made the cat population, but also educated the natives on the importance of conserving the species. And thus away from the terrors of the Taliban war, tucked in snow and remotely located, Wakhan promises to emerge as a National Park more popular than others in the country with the Snow Leopards as the best attraction. As expressed by Mostapha Zaher, director general of the National Environment Protection Agency in Afghanistan, to AP-“When peace returns to Afghanistan—and it will, as no war lasts forever—Wakhan has great potential for ecotourism,” Wakhan remains hopeful to welcoming tourists. Tourism is sure to bring progress to this remote location, besides making Wakhan a shining example of Conservation of Species.

Journeys of Famous Travelers

We didn’t always have the access to Google and Google Maps to know about a foreign land. It took many courageous travelers to explorer uncharted places. They went against all odds to explore unknown places, cultures and customs. No one knew where Lewis and Clark were for two years until they came back from their expedition and Xuanzang traveled without a permission of his king. Read below the journey of few famous travelers from around the world.

Ibn Battuta

The young Ibn Battuta set off on a travel to Hajj in 1325, and he went on traveling for next 29 years. On his way he faced pirates and robbers, fell sick twice (once he fell so sick that he was tied to his saddle to keep from falling off), got a lot of gifts from pious Muslims, and married a few women and fathered several children. The great Muslim explorer traveled from Morocco to Kilwa( Tanzania), China and Mali, as well as to India, Jerusalem, Granada, Sri Lanka, The Maldives and hundreds of other places. To concise it, Ibn Battuta travelled almost 75,000 miles, mostly overland. A detailed account of his astonishing traveling is chronicled in Rihla, which means “journey”.

Christopher Columbus

Columbus first started sailing for several trading voyages in the Mediterranean and Aegean seas. In 1492, he was sailing across the Atlantic Ocean in search of Asia when he fell a bit short and discovered America. He could never reach Asia as he planned. However, the voyage was very courageous. He had the guts to sail wooden ships across then uncharted Atlantic Ocean.  The world still debates that if the Italian voyager was a great explorer. His enslaving humble natives of Hispaniola and mutilating them suggests otherwise.

Lewis and Clark

Meriwether Lewis and William Clark set out on an amazing voyage across the Louisiana Territory in 1804. They explored the western United States beginning in Missouri through the Mississippi to the Pacific coast. They faced harsh conditions and crossed unexplored places, and returned in 1806 with the help of the famous Sacagawea, a Lemhi Shoshone woman.  These two American Heroes very well deserve being considered as two of the world’s greatest explorers.

Xuanzang

Xuanzang was a Chinese Buddhist Monk, refined scholar, courageous traveler and a translator who recorded the interactions between India and China in the early Tang Dynasty. He set out on a travel through China, The Indian subcontinent and Afghanistan when his emperor has prohibited foreign travel.  During his journey he was attacked by robbers, survived an avalanche, and coped up with hunger and thirst. He documented his journey in Great Tang Records on the Western Regions.

Ways Travelers Can Support LGBT Communities

Being lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT) is really an exception to be a part of an incredibly diverse group of human beings. And being someone who supports the community is all the more exciting. There are numerous ways in which one can support and work for the welfare of this beautiful community. Here are some excellent ways in which the travelers to different parts of the world can extend their support towards the LGBT communities!

Research the LGBT community too while researching your holiday destination
Save enough time to browse through some reliable articles and news on the LGBT community at your holiday destination. Check out the various issues that local LGBT community faces in the destination like if there are laws against homosexuality? Are there aspects of local cultures that challenge the gender binary? Is gay marriage allowed? It would also be great if you read about some of the popular campaigns, activism, and projects in the destination related to LGBT. By educating yourself with all the possible information, you can ensure maximum safety.

Ask the communities themselves how they would like to get supported
When it comes to helping people or supporting for a particular cause, be respectful towards people and ask them what they need. No wonder, listening to them is always the best thing to follow. Or just in case you wish to figure out some specific ways to help a community, better connect with the local activists online. Check out all the queer-friendly NGOs around your destination and see what they actually need to flourish.

Support businesses that support LGBT equality…
The Human Rights Commission of most of the countries has these days come up with several useful Corporate Equality Indexes that reportedly rank quite high for businesses that are based on how LGBT-friendly the group is. It is always advised to study their reports in order to find out the most LGBT friendly airlines, hotels, restaurants and more. Along with this, it is also important to avoid spending money at places that are against the LGBT community.

Be respectful as a Pride attendee
If you happen to attend a Pride event, no matter intentionally or accidentally, do make sure that you follow all the useful rules of the community. The rules are almost same for every community and destination. The most important being, don’t ever photograph the community people without their permission as this way you might accidentally out them to their community, which may at times put them in sheer danger.

Don’t force people to discuss their experiences
Never ever force or even ask the community people to share their experiences until and unless you are well known to any of them. And even if you know someone, don’t ask them how they came out or whether they have ever experienced a hate crime. These are very sensitive topics and one may take it as an offense. So it’s always better to avoid such sensitive topics.

Mysterious Places on Earth To Explore For the Heart of Steel

No doubt science can explain almost every possible thing that happens on the planet earth, but that doesn’t means there isn’t any room for a little mystery, as well. It can happen anywhere, anytime! Let’s not forget that like some places are extremely beautiful and gorgeous, others look equally weird and mysterious. And then, there is no way explaining it away. Elaborating it better, below are just a handful of such mysterious places on Earth!

Skeleton Lake, India

For several months, the glacial lake of Skeleton in Roopkund, Uttrakhand, is completely frozen but just as the ice melts around the lake, hundreds of scattered bones are clearly visible. First spotted by a British forest guard in 1942, it is quite believed that the skeletons were those of Japanese soldiers who laid their lives while crossing the route during World War II. The skulls are believed to have odd cracks in them that lead to much speculation about their origin but now the scientists claim the cracks were from freak hail storms which lead to destruction.

Isla de las Munecas, Mexico

Isla de las Munecas is completely inhabited by different dolls and the locals there strongly believe that the dolls whisper to each other during the night and even move their eyes as someone passes by. The trees here are strung with hundreds of dolls and this was done by the island's only inhabitant, Don Julian Santana Barrera who started collecting the dolls from garbage bins and hanged them on the trees. This was done to calm down the spirit of a young girl whom he found near the island. Weirdly, Barrera also drowned in exactly the same place where he had found the girl’s body. Scary, isn’t it?

Aokigahara Forest, Japan

Japan’s Aokigahara Forest is known for having one of the highest rates of suicide in the world. The forest is located at the foot of Mount Fuji in Japan and the locals believe that the forest is haunted by spirits and ghosts that compel people to end their lives. Many claim to have heard loud crying screams from the forest during night. The biggest irony is that the authorities have mounted signs reading "Your life is a precious gift from your parents" and "Please consult the police before you decide to die!" but these still go unheard. More than 500 suicides have taken place in the forest since 1950s.

Door to Hell, Turkmenistan

The ‘Door to Hell’ is literally a door to the hell as it completely resembles a work straight out of a science-fiction. The place was actually accidentally created by in the early 1970s when a team of Soviet scientists identified the area as a potential oil field site but is rather came out to be a natural gas field. Since then, it has been burning continuously. This 230-feet-wide crater is one of the largest gas reserves in the world.

Bermuda Triangle, North Atlantic Ocean

Popularly known as the Devil's Triangle, Bermuda Triangle is world famous but not for good reasons. The place remains in news constantly for its mysterious incidents such as plane crashes, sighting of objects, magnetic abnormalities, and unexplainable disappearances. While some refer all this to alien activities, some claim to work of an electronic fog that may be a time travel tunnel. Interestingly, Bermuda Triangle is the rarest place on the planet where the compass points in the north direction instead of Earth's magnetic north.

So are you a tourist or a traveler?

Add caption: Image Source

We use the term ‘tourist’ or ‘traveler’ almost interchangeably, but both these words have different implications to some people in the travel community. What makes someone a better traveler than someone else? Do experiences not count if there is no 200 kms hitchhike involved through a troubled country? Does booking a room make you ‘not extreme enough’ to be a credible traveler?  Although one can’t be put in a box, there are some factors discussed below which highlights the differences between the two.

Flexibility

If you are someone who has a fixed plan for the trip and slightest last minute changes in ‘the plan’ or a sudden road block causes you to have a nervous breakdown, you are probably a tourist. However, if a blocked road does not frazzle you and you are open for detours down the little-known back roads and you go with the flow, you are probably a traveler. As long as you reach your destination, it does not bother you what road you have taken.

Comfort

A tourist is someone who would typically pre-book their hotel room months in advance and will not compromise on the level of comfort no matter where you they going. A traveler will, however, be open to stay in any hotel, BnB, home stay they can get a room for the night, or will carry their own tent. Comfort is not the most important thing for them.

Sight-seeing

A tourist will probably make check-list of all the major attractions and will make sure to visit each one of them, as advised by the internet. However, a traveler does not really have a strict itinerary and is someone who will talk to the local people and find out interesting places to see or eateries to visit, which will probably not be listed in any website

Purpose

Tourists typically have a mission in mind when they travel. If you visit the Grand Canyon congregate at the South Rim, snap pictures, and leave within hours and feel you have served the purpose and ticked it off your list, you are probably a tourist. However, if you are more of the type to take it all in in person as opposed to clicking ten pictures, you are a traveler.

Adjustability

If you are easily irked if things don’t go as planned, the waiter got your order wrong because of language difference, or your laundry service did not arrive on time, you are a tourist. But if such things slide off you and you concentrate more on the trip than your needs, you are probably a traveler.
