With ample of accommodation options in Chicago and so many hotel booking sites claiming to get you the best Chicago hotel rates, it seems a cakewalk to save money on Chicago hotel reservation.  But it’s not that easy.  The price of hotel rooms depends on demand, and changes frequently.  You can’t make your reservations on the same website always because that doesn’t always guarantee the best deal.

Following are seven ways that can help you getting best Chicago hotel rates.

Consider a package deal
Book a package deal instead of booking flight and Chicago accommodation individually. With Expedia you can get a deal if you are booking flight and hotel together. With two airports in the city and plenty of flight options available, it can save you on your Chicago hotel or Chicago motel booking in your preferred location.

Use discount coupons
There are many websites offering discount coupons and help you save money on Chicago hotel reservations. You can take printouts or apply them while making a reservation.  Simply do a web search on Google, Yahoo or Bing for coupons for Chicago or your favorite Chicago Hotel.

Keep close tabs on your booking
If you are done with your Chicago hotel reservation and made a note of the things you want to do on your trip, don’t just sit back and count days. Check if the rates are going down and if they have, cancel the booking and redo it. If you find a better rate within 24 hours of your booking on any other websites for the same room type with all the amenities offered, call to get a price-match.

Use reward points
If you have accumulated enough points from your loyalty program, you can use them to pay for your Chicago accommodation. Many credit cards also offer reward points which you can use for your Chicago hotel reservation. You earn reward points for signing up and then every time you use your credit card.

Revisit the hotel if you liked it last time
Revisit the hotel for a better Chicago hotel rate. Tell the manager and person at the reception that you have previously stayed at the hotel. Tell them what you like about the hotel. At Chicago hotels and motels, they want you to visit them whenever you happen in the city. There are chances that they may reward you with a better rate or you get an upgrade.

Select hotel location wisely
If you want your Chicago accommodation in the heart of downtown, you will have to shell out more money in comparison to cheap Chicago hotels just a couple of miles away with same amenities and equally good ratings. Chicago is a big city and offers a lot of attractions. So check the maps offered by travel websites to get the best Chicago hotel rate. The icing on the cake is that tourists praise public transit in Chicago.

Travel without hotel reservation
It might not work in Chicago in summers, but in other seasons it can be advantageous. Show up on a Chicago hotel or motel you like on your way, if they have room available there is a good chance of you getting a better Chicago Hotel rate. You can even check the room before you book it.
